I have seen this book tag floating around on Instagram for a couple of weeks now and I’ve finally got around to making mine. This was a lot harder to compile than I originally anticipated but I’m happy with my choices!
Best Book You’ve Read So Far
I was incredibly torn between choosing A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas or Starside by Alex Aster for this prompt. However, as much as I loved Starside, I had to go with my gut and choose ACOMAF! *check out my review here*
Book That Made You Laugh
This book is a rogue choice but it has to be Ashes of Prospero by Gav Thorpe. The character that made me laugh the most in this is a Space Wolf called Lukas the Trickster. It’s not often I laugh at a book but this one had me giggling throughout.
Book That Made You Cry
I haven’t cried at a book in the longest time but this year Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys got me. What a book! *check out my review here*
Favourite New Character
This one was easy to decide and it’s actually not a main character. I’ve chose Teddy from Done and Dusted by Lyla Sage. I fell in love with her and wish I had a friend like her in real life. *check out my review here*
Favourite New To You Author
I know I have only read a couple of her novellas so far this year but I’ve been really enjoying Abby Jimenez’s writing. I’m hoping she continues to be a favourite when I get around to reading a full-length novel by her.
Favourite Book By A Debut Author
I was fortunate to be on the ARC team for this author and ended up loving her debut novel Masquerade of Mirrors by Samantha Hartwood. *check out my review here*
Biggest Disappointment
With how much this book has been hyped up over the years I was expecting to love it. Considering it’s Ali Hazelwood as well, I expected more and unfortunately Love on the Brain disappointed me. *check out my review here*
Biggest Surprise
I picked up 10 Things to Do Before I Go by Chantelle Mathewson completely on a whim for a book challenge I was doing at the time and I ended up loving it. I’d never heard of this book or author before so it was definitely a hidden gem. *check out my review here*
Most Anticipated Release
I don’t normally have anticipated releases but after reading Starside and loving it… my most anticipated release now is Stormside by Alex Aster. November cannot come quick enough!
New Release You Haven’t Read But Want To
I read First-Time Caller earlier in the year and ended up picking up And Now, Back to You by B.K. Borison from The Works because I really enjoyed it. However, I still haven’t got around to reading it yet but I definitely still want to.
Book You Want To Read By The End Of The Year
I want to continue on my journey of immersive reading The Lord of the Rings trilogy so the next one I want to read by the end of the year is The Two Towers by J.R.R. Tolkien. I completed The Fellowship of the Ring in 2025.
Most Beautiful Book You’ve Acquired This Year
This one upsets me because I’ve since sold it… However, it is still the most beautiful book I’ve acquired so far this year but Brigands & Breadknives by Travis Baldree ended up sadly being a DNF.
