Well, it is officially January! Can’t believe we’re already kicking off 2026 posts for this theme…
Leslie at Books Are The New Black hosts this fun monthly theme and I had a look at January which I thought would be fun to take part in.
The rules are simple:
- Mention the creator (Leslie @ Books Are The New Black) and link back so she can see your post!
- Pick 5+ book covers that match the current monthโs Birthstone.
- HAVE FUN!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY… to all the January babies out there!
January’s birthstone is a Garnet and after doing a little research, I found some interesting information on this website for what it means…
“The name โgarnetโ originates from the medieval Latin granatus, meaning โpomegranate,โ in reference to the similarity of the red color. Necklaces studded with red garnets adorned the pharaohs of ancient Egypt. Signet rings in ancient Rome featured garnet intaglios that were used to stamp the wax that secured important documents. The clergy and nobility of the Middle Ages had a preference for red garnets.”

Right, lets get onto the book covers that I was able to find from books I’ve read (still own or unhauled). This is the hardest month I have had to do so far. I normally manage to find at least 9 books but for this one I was only able to find 6.

- The Girls I’ve Been by Tess Sharpe (Read – unhauled)
- A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas (Read – still own)
- Good Girl, Bad Blood by Holly Jackson (Read – still own)
- The Donor by Clare Mackintosh (Read – unhauled)
- YOLO Juliet by William Shakespeare & Brett Wright (Read – unhauled)
- The Chain by Adrian McKinty (Read – unhauled)
This was a lot of fun to take part in for January and I’ve already taken a sneak peak for February which I will try to take part in!
What garnet books would you recommend? What would you add to the list?
