It is time for round two of the UK vs US book covers! To recap, in round one the UK are leading with 8 points and the US are slightly behind with 5 points. If you missed round one, you can check it out here. Just like before, the UK covers will be on the LEFT and the US covers will be on the RIGHT. (Please note: this post is purely for the covers–I probably haven’t read the majority of these but I have heard of them.)
The Flatshare by Beth O’Leary

*I have read this* This was a tough one to decide between because I actually really like both! I love the blue/green cover with the bright pink font on the UK cover. I also like the light shining down from the top onto the bed. However, I do like the half and half cover on the US one. The font going down the middle is cute and I like the artistic depictions of the people. I think this one is a tie for me…
MY WINNER: Both covers
Daisy Jones and The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

*I have read this* This one was such an easy decision. I have read the book and I don’t feel like I’m getting the rockstar vibes from the UK cover. I do like the colour and the big font for the title but the US cover feels more vintage. I’m not normally a fan of real people on the cover but this one is giving me that rockstar energy! The font also feels more like something I would see on a concert poster.
MY WINNER: US cover
Beach Read by Emily Henry

*I haven’t read this* This one was really tough to decide between because I really like both of them. I love the colours used on the UK cover and it does give me beach vibes but I think the US cover sways it a bit more for me. I prefer the font on the US cover and I don’t mind the cartoon people either. I also like that you can see them both with a book which feels more fitting to the title of the book. The red and blue towels really work with the orange cover also.
MY WINNER: US cover
The Maid by Nita Prose

*I haven’t read this* This one was such a hard decision to choose between. I really like the green cover and gold font used on the UK cover. I think the hanging sign on the door handle is really fitting also. However, the striking red against the black font is so good on the US cover. I also love that we can see a glimpse of a maid through the keyhole. They are both good but I think I’m swaying more towards the US cover.
MY WINNER: US cover
Dial A for Aunties by Jesse Q. Sutanto

*I haven’t read this* This is another one that was so hard to choose between! I like the pop art graphic style on the UK one with the pop of pink for the cover. I definitely prefer the font on the UK cover but I love the ladies peering from behind the main person on the US cover. I do also really like the yellow cover used on the US one. It was tough but I’ve made my decision…
MY WINNER: US cover
Six Crimson Cranes by Elizabeth Lim

*I haven’t read this* I can’t say much about these because they are both amazing covers but I am a sucker for pastel colours and the UK cover is SOOOOO pretty! However, I do think the US cover is very striking and is beautiful as well but the UK wins this one.
MY WINNER: UK cover
Crying in H-Mart by Michelle Zauner

*I haven’t read this* This was a tough one to decide between but I think I have made my decision after much pondering. I do really like the orange but I definitely prefer the red against the black title. I also really the noodles which to me look like tears falling.
MY WINNER: US cover
A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara

*I haven’t read this* I made my decision pretty quickly with this one… although I do like the white cover with the glimpses of a building behind it on the UK cover, I feel like the US cover captures exactly how I am supposed to feel if I ever read it. I also like the orange font on the black and white background.
MY WINNER: US cover
You and Me on Vacation / People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry

*I haven’t read this* So not only do we have a different cover for this one but we also have a different title… The UK cover has some pretty colours on it but I have to admit that I like the bright orange with the bright green on the US cover. They do both scream summer reads and the cartoon people on the covers for both don’t offend me. I think the US cover looks more clean.
MY WINNER: US cover
Ariadne by Jennifer Saint

*I haven’t read this* There are two very different covers but I do like them both. I really like the gold against the blue on the UK cover but I also like the orange against the blue on the US cover. If there is a person on the cover I much prefer them to be smaller like it’s shown on the UK cover. The person on the US cover is a little too much for me. I do like the Greek pillars behind on the US cover and think they fit well with the book genre.
MY WINNER: UK cover
And that leads us to the end of round 2! Time to see the updated scores…
UK COVERS: 11 Points
US COVERS: 13 Points
It seems that the US is now slightly in the lead after that round!
