Seeing as it’s Tuesday, I thought I would do a little TBR Tuesday post!
Mystery and thriller books don’t take up the biggest chunk of my TBR. But when I’m in the mood for something twisty, dark, or full of suspense, they’re the ones I reach for. There’s something so satisfying about a story that keeps you guessing—or shocks you with a plot twist you didn’t see coming.
I may not collect these as obsessively as fantasy or romance, but I still have a solid little stack waiting for me. Some have been on my shelf for a while, others are newer picks I’m curious to dive into. Here’s a look at the mystery and thriller reads currently on my TBR—maybe you’ll spot something that keeps you up late turning pages, too.
The Jealous One by Celia Fremlin – This is a newer addition, kindly gifted by the publishers. The premise and cover caught my eye. The only thing holding me back is that it’s an older book. I need to prioritise this one soon.
The Reappearance of Rachel Price by Holly Jackson – I won an ARC of this last year. I’m a huge fan of Jackson’s writing, so I felt lucky to win it. I’ve heard mixed reviews, though, which makes me hesitant to pick it up.
The House We Grew Up In by Lisa Jewell – My family/friends book club asked me to read this a couple of months ago, but I just didn’t feel like it.. My sister raves about Jewell, so this would be my first of hers. I’m not sure why I’m not prioritising it yet.
The Housemaid by Freida McFadden – One of two recent McFadden additions to my TBR. Her recent books disappointed me, so I’m apprehensive. Still, many people rave about this one—it could be my next 5-star read.
Want to Know a Secret? by Freida McFadden – This is the other recent McFadden. I haven’t heard much about it, so if I’m choosing between this and The Housemaid, I’d start with The Housemaid.
The Labours of Hercules by Agatha Christie – I’ve read the first Poirot book and enjoyed it. I found this in a charity shop and had to grab it—it’s rare. I haven’t picked it up yet because I’m unsure whether to read the series in order or not.
