I genuinely cannot believe that I have been book blogging for a whole year! It honestly doesn’t feel like a year has passed already, but here we are. I thought I would use today to have a little look back at my first year of blogging and talk about what I’ve learnt.

Thanks to WordPress for the notification of what my first ever post was 🙂
When I first started my blog, one of my main goals was to reach 100 subscribers within my first year. Well… I haven’t quite got there yet! I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little disappointed… However, I’m genuinely so grateful for the subscribers I do have. I genuinely appreciate every person who has chosen to follow my blog and read my posts more than you probably realise. The views, likes and comments help so much!
I also haven’t been as consistent with posting as I would have liked, but honestly… life be lifeing! I’ve learnt that I don’t want blogging to feel like something I have to do. I love knowing that I can take a break when needed and come back when I feel like it.
I’ve also gone through a little rebrand this year, starting out as Just Read Jessie and eventually becoming Bookishly Jessie. I think Bookishly Jessie feels much more like me and what I want my blog to be, so I’m really happy with the change!
One of my favourite things about blogging has been discovering some wonderful bloggers. People who have inspired me to push myself out of my comfort zone. I also feel like blogging has helped me improve my writing and creativity especially when it comes to reviews and post ideas.
I’ve also been really grateful for the opportunities that blogging has brought me this year. I’ve had the chance to collaborate with a small business, as well as take part in some book blog tours. I never expected to do any of these things when I first started my blog. I’ve loved having these opportunities and getting to discover and share books that I might not have come across otherwise.
Looking back, I’m really proud of what I’ve achieved in my first year. Maybe I haven’t reached 100 subscribers yet, but I’ve grown as a writer, discovered a lovely blogging community and, most importantly, found something I really enjoy doing.
Here’s to another year of book blogging! 💕
