Book Review
TikTok and Instagram had been raving about this book, so I knew I had to pick it up. BOY, am I glad I did!
This book doesnโt follow the typical style; instead, the author writes it like a TV documentary.. I absolutely loved this type of writing style as it made this so fast-paced which I just couldn’t put down. The book uses lots of mixed mediaโpictures, blog threads, news articles, and moreโto support the plot, a choice the author executed brilliantly. I personally love a bit of mixed media for books in this genre!
A sign of a mystery/thriller book is one that can keep me guessing throughout and this one did exactly that. I felt I couldnโt trust anyone in this book; even the expert characters brought in to solve the case proved unreliable.
Like any good murder mystery, it had plenty of twists, and the ending completely surprised me, keeping me engaged in the story the whole time.
When I read this originally I gave this book 3 stars but thinking back now I probably should’ve gave it โญโญโญโญ. I think Cara Hunter made the right choice choosing this type of writing style as it really elevated the whole premise of the book.
If you’re in the need of a good murder mystery read and like mixed media then I would definitely recommend giving this one a go! In my opinion, I think this would be good for anyone who is currently in a reading slump.
